Harris Eclipses Another School Record At Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Nikki Harris shattered a 13-year-old school record on the way to a 16th-place finish in the 5000m Run to highlight action for the Mercer track & field team on Friday evening at the Duke Invitational.

Harris logged her third school record in as many events this season, this time besting her personal best in the 5000m Run by nearly 21 seconds in out-pacing 70 other competitors in the discipline. Junior Olivia Jones crossed in 59^th place with a time of 18:02.90, while freshmen Abbie Kallbreier (18:25.15) and Reagan Cooke (18:39.78) were 71^st and 74^th, respectively.

Mercer's hurdlers, jumpers and sprinters will be the focus on Saturday as the Bears compete at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Mercer has entries in eight events beginning with the Long Jump at 1 p.m. and concluding with the 4x400m Relay event at 8 p.m.
