ATHENS – Mercer tacked up five runs in the first three innings behind a standout performance in the circle from redshirt junior Hannah Pitts, and the Bears recorded their first win over a nationally-ranked team in seven years with a 5-2 rattling of 16^th-ranked Georgia on Wednesday evening at Turner Softball Stadium.

Mercer (19-18) moved to 6-1 this season against teams based in the state of Georgia, while also picking up its first win over a Top 25 team since dispelling then-No. 5 Georgia by the same score on April 4, 2018. The setback snapped a six-game series win streak for the Bulldogs (25-11) who have now dropped three-straight games in 2025.

Pitts (6-4) scattered six hits and three walks over five quality innings from the circle to notch her sixth win of the season, while Grace Taylor struck out three across scoreless sixth and seventh frames to pick up her third save.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 1	Hallie Langford drew a 5-pitch walk to lead off the contest, moved into scoring position two pitches later on a stolen base and eventually scored on a 2-out RBI single from Laura Vigna.
TOP 2	Emma Dorval (single) and Sydney Harris (walk) both reached base safely to start the frame, then moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt from Hannah Rivers. Dorval scurried home on a costly wild pitch, and the Bears pushed their lead out to three runs on a perfectly-placed suicide squeeze bunt by Hallie Langford.
