
Mercer Hosts Wofford Friday In Big South Tournament Semifinals

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team is set to welcome the No. 4 seed Wofford Terriers to Five Star Stadium Friday afternoon in the Big South Tournament semifinals. First draw is set for 4 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's game will be the 8th all-time meeting between Mercer and Wofford. Mercer has never lost to the Terriers as Mercer has won all seven prior meetings. The two teams met in Macon in the regular season where Mercer won, 22-8.
LAST TIME OUT
Caroline Glus and Abby Morrison each scored five goals to lift the Mercer Bears to a dominant 19-1 win at Longwood last Saturday from Farmville, Virginia. The win clinched a share of the regular season Big South championship for the Bears.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford enters the game with a 9-9 overall record. The Terriers went 5-3 in the Big South and earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament
Wofford defeated Winthrop 20-19 in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Tuesday, in the first round of the Big South Tournament to advance to play the Bears.
Wofford is fourth in the conference in goals per game during Big South play at 14.0 goals per game. In conference play, the Terriers lead the Big South in caused turnovers (12.0) and ground balls per game (20.4).
Wofford is led by the Big South Co-Offensive Player of the Year in attacker Bria Foley. Foley leads the Big South with 103 points (57G, 46A) entering Friday's game. She scored six goals to go with four assists in Wofford's win on Tuesday over Winthrop. No other player on Wofford has more than 50 points with senior attacker Carley Irvin second on the team with 47 points.
The expected starting goalie for the Terriers is Ella Smithers who owns a 14.85 goals against average with a 36.9 save percentage.
