GREENVILLE, S.C. – Red-hot Mercer pounded out 10 hits and scored nine times behind redshirt junior right-hander Katheryn Rearley's second shutout in less than 24 hours as the visiting Bears finished off a weekend sweep of Furman with an abbreviated 9-0 rout of the Paladins on Sunday.

It was the 12^th win in the last 14 outings for the Bears (31-23, 11-9 SoCon) who also matched a 16-year-old school record with their fifth consecutive shutout as well. Furman (15-37, 5-16) has now dropped 15 of its last 17 contests, as well as seven-straight in the series with the Orange & Black.

Rearley (6-2), who hurled a 2-hit shutout in Saturday's 16-0 win over the Paladins, went the distance again on Sunday, yielding just five hits and striking out six. It was the fourth-straight win in as many appearances for the Townsend native.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 3	Tori Hedgecock reached on a 2-out error and Grace Jones followed with a single to left field to set the table for a 2-run triple off of the bat of Hannah Rivers that gave the Bears the lead for good. Sydney Harris singled home Rivers on the next pitch, and Sietske Drijvers delivered a full-count offering into right field to make it a 4-0 advantage for the Orange & Black.

UP NEXT
Fifth-seeded Mercer will be back in action again on Wednesday when they take on eighth-seeded Furman in a play-in game at the Southern Conference Tournament. First pitch for that contest is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Wofford's Hope Field.
