MACON – First-year Mercer softball head coach Chris Kuhlmeyer added the first pillar to the foundation of his coaching staff on Saturday morning with the announcement of collegiate coaching veteran Morgan Edmondson as an assistant coach.
Edmondson ventures to Middle Georgia after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at Colgate. She has previous coaching stops at both perennial Northeast 10 (NCAA Division II) contender Saint Anselm and Seton Hall.
Colgate raked in eight All-Patriot League accolades with Edmondson in the dugout, including two-time all-conference catcher Quinn Livesay who registered 40 doubles, 17 home runs and 82 RBI from 2022-25, while also throwing out nearly 50 would-be base stealers, under Edmondson's tutelage. Colgate also boasted the nation's 36th-best hits allowed per 7 innings (9.36) ratio in 2024.
Saint Anselm showcased one of the nation's top defenses with Edmondson on staff as the Hawks tallied a combined 1.88 earned run average and a combined .963 fielding percentage on the way to registering 61 victories and a pair of NCAA Division II postseason berths across the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Saint Anselm turned in a 33-7 clip in Edmondson's first season in New Hampshire, including 15-straight wins that bridged April and May.
Edmondson got her start in collegiate coaching as a volunteer assistant at Seton Hall from 2013-15. The Pirates generated more than 60 wins across that span. She previously spent four seasons (2017-21) as the swimming & diving head coach at her prep alma mater, Johnson City High School, while also serving a dual role as the junior varsity softball head coach at Chenango Valley High School in nearby Binghamton across that same time span.
An everyday starter behind the plate for Le Moyne from 2009-12, Edmondson compiled a .341 (163-for-478) career batting average to go along 46 extra-base hits (5 HR) and 83 RBI. The three-time All-Northeast 10 selection helped lead the Dolphins to 115 victories, including a 45-win campaign in 2009 that culminated with a Northeast 10 title.
A native of Johnson City, N.Y., Edmondson earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Le Moyne in 2012, and completed her master's degree in sports psychology at Seton Hall in 2015.
