MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's soccer team heads to Greenville, South Carolina for its SoCon opener Thursday night against Furman. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday's game will be the 14th all-time meeting between the two teams. Furman leads the series 7-4-2. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie last year in Macon.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer is coming off a 2-0 defeat at home to Jacksonville State on Sunday. Lindsay Bell made eight saves in goal for the Bears.
SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman played well throughout its non-conference schedule, going 6-1-1. The Paladins are 3-1-0 at home. Furman was picked to finish third in the Preseason SoCon Coaches Poll.
Thursday will be Furman's first home game since Aug. 24 as the Paladins are coming off a four-game road swing in which they went 3-0-1.
Furman has scored 21 goals while allowing just five through eight non-conference games. Only USC Upstate has scored more than one goal against the Paladins this season.
Furman's leading goal scorer is graduate student Emma Sexton who has four goals and one assist. The Paladins have six players with at least two goals so far this season.
The expected starting goalie for Furman is sophomore Reese DeJong who owns a 0.67 goals against average with a .833 save percentage.
