Bears tied for 11th after two rounds

WOLCOTT, Colo. - Katie Scheck carded a second round of 4-under, 68 to move up the leaderboard and into a tie for ninth place after Tuesday's second round at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from Wolcott, Colorado at the Fazio Course from Red Sky Golf Club.

As a team, the Bears are in a tie for 11th place out of 20 teams at 17-over, 593. USC leads the field at 25-under, 551. They have a 13-shot lead over second place, Pepperdine. Mercer finished the second round with a 10-over, 298 after carding a 7-over, 295 on Monday.

Scheck's second round consisted of six birdies and a 32 on the front nine. She birdied four of her first seven holes to start the front nine. Her round was tied for the second best of the day with a few golfers still on the course.

Ella Mäki-Tanila finished her second round with a 2-over, 74 and is tied for 20th out of the 100 golfers competing. Mercer has played the par 3's well as they are 4-over on them throughout the first 36 holes of the tournament which is the fifth best score among the 20 teams.

The final round on Wednesday will begin at 9:15 a.m. MST / 11:15 a.m. EST from a shotgun start.
