JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Alex Aldaz, Amen Prince Gandonou and Shingo Masuda all registered perfect days on the court as the Mercer men's tennis team split six singles matches and swept through doubles play to wrap up play at the North Florida Invitational on Sunday.
The Bears finished the three-day event at the UNF Tennis Complex with five singles victories and as many wins on the doubles courts against competitors from Tennessee, Texas Tech, North Florida and Barry. Masuda and Alex Aldaz both posted a 2-1 clip amid singles play on the weekend, including Masuda's victory over Tennessee's Jan Kobierski amid Friday's hidden duals action.
Masuda and Cameron Douthit teamed up to post a perfect 2-0 mark in weekend doubles action, as did the tandem of Howell Burns and Esteban Davila Gasser.
The Orange & Black will make its only home appearance of the 2025-26 fall campaign, Oct. 3-5, when it bunkers down to host the annual Mercer Gridiron Classic at the John Drew Tennis Center in north Macon.
