Katie Scheck had a hole-in-one in her second round
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Katie Scheck made a hole-in-one in her second round and leads the Bears at 4-over, 148 and is tied for 25th after the first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational from Albuquerque, New Mexico at the New Mexico Championship Course.
As a team, the Bears are in 11th place out of 15 teams at 28-over, 604. Sacramento State leads the field at 1-under, 575. Teams played 36 holes on Monday with the final round to be played on Tuesday. Mercer shot 11-over, 299 in the first round and then turned in a second round of 17-over, 305.
Scheck's two rounds consisted of a 75 (+3) and 73 (+1). Her birdie came in her second round on the par 3, eighth. She hit a 9 iron on the 142 yard par 3 and the ball took one bounce before going in the hole.
The Bears were the only team to have more than one player card an eagle on the day as Riley Kim made a three on the par 5, first in her second round. Tylar Whiting had the lowest round of the day for the Bears with a round of even par, 72 in her first round.
Mercer has played the par 5's well as they are one of six teams in the field at even par or better on them. Kim is tied for the third best score on the par 5's at 4-under par.
The final round on Tuesday will begin at 9:30 a.m. local time via a shotgun start.
