Mighty Named SoCon Player Of The Week

MACON, Ga. - Redshirt junior center Armani Mighty was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played from Jan. 12-18 as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Mighty posted two double-doubles for Mercer as the Bears went 2-0 last week. On Jan. 15, Mighty had 18 points and 25 rebounds in a 77-67 victory over VMI. Mighty's 25 boards marked the second-best output in program history and were the most rebounds in a game by any player inside VMI's Cameron Hall. It was also the most rebounds by any Division I player in a game this season. Two days later, the native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, recorded 20 points and 13 rebounds, while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field as Mercer defeated UNCG, 102-92, for its fourth straight win.

For the week, Mighty averaged 19.0 points, 19.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. Mighty shot 88.2 percent from the field over the two games.

Mighty and the Bears wil host Western Carolina on Wednesday Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
