Mercer Earns 7-0 Win Over ABAC

MACON, Ga. -Â Mercer rolled to a dominant 7-0 win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Monday afternoon in Macon from the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
ABAC played with just five players, therefore Mercer needed to win just one of two double matches to earn the doubles point. Mercer's Tea Zivic and Sofiya Tsitavets won every game in a 6-0 win over ABAC's Denise Alexie Raducu and Lorena Orsi, Mercer also won the other doubles match with a 6-2 win from Marie Bannmeyer and Anotnia Schweigel over ABAC's Kiera Youseff and Chloe Bray.
Mercer then led 2-0 after earning a walkover win on court six in singles action. Marie Bannmeyer earned a win without dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over ABAC's Lorena Orsi. On court four, Ines Hömberg earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over ABAC's Kiera Youssef to clinch the match for the Bears with the score 4-0.
Valentine Abide Talaki played well for the Bears on court five with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chloe Bray from ABAC. Sofiya Tsitavets won 6-1, 6-0 on court two over Juliana Caracciolo of ABAC. The last singles match to finish was on court one where Tea Zivic ended up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over ABAC's Denisa Alexie Raducu.
Up next for the Bears is another home match on Wednesday Feb. 18Â against Young Harris from the Copelan Tennis Complex. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
