Both squads picked up quick 7-0 victories over visiting ABAC on Monday afternoon at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center in south Macon. The Mercer women's team (5-2) surrendered just a pair of games across two matchups in picking up the quick doubles point, and then yielded just seven games across five singles matchups to finish off the sweep of the Golden Stallions.
The Mercer men's team (1-5) picked up its first win of the traditional spring campaign with relative ease as well, needing just less than 30 minutes to rake in the doubles point before posting six straight-sets singles victories.
The Young Harris women's team (1-2) is looking to right its ship tough back-to-back 4-3 setbacks against both Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman, but do boast a 5-2 victory over Tusculum in its official season opener on Saturday. The Mountain Lions unofficially lifted the lid on the spring campaign with a 7-0 exhibition loss at Emory, as well as a 5-2 exhibition setback at Western Carolina.
YHC's men's team (1-2) will roll into Macon sporting a similar record, but snapped a season-opening two-match skid with a 5-2 win over Carson-Newman on Sunday. The Mountain Lions dropped exhibition setbacks to both Emory and UNC Asheville before officially opening up the spring season with losses to Tusculum and Lincoln Memorial.
Mercer's teams both have a brief series history with Young Harris, taking both halves of a men's and women's doubleheader with the Mountain Lions on Jan. 19, 2022 in Macon.
