
Mercer In Third Place Midway Through Second Round At Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team currently sits in third place out of 15 teams in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational from Great Waters Course in Greensboro, Georgia.
Play was stopped on Friday around 6:30 p.m. with teams around halfway through their second round. The teams were scheduled to play 36 holes on Friday with rain expected throughout most of Saturday. However, the first round was delayed before it ever began and the first round did not start until 10 a.m. ET, forcing teams to not have enough daylight to finish their second round.
As a team, Mercer is at 4-over, six shots behind the tournament leader UNCG which leads the field at 2-under.
Tylar Whiting, Katie Scheck, and Ella Mäki-Tanila all carded rounds of even par or better for the Bears in the first round. Whiting shot a 2-under, 70, Scheck, a 1-under ,71, and Mäki-Tanila carded a round of even par, 72.
After 11-12 holes played into the second round, Scheck sits tied for third at 3-under par. Whiting is tied for sixth at even par. Mercer leads the field in pars with 98. The Bears have the third most birdies in the field with 22. As a team, Mercer leads the field in par 3's and par 5's. Scheck has seven birdies through 29 holes played which is tied for second most in the field of 80 players.
Players will continue the second round on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
