BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee used a pair of double steals with two outs in the bottom of the first inning to take a lead it would not relinquish as the top-ranked Lady Vols stayed unbeaten with an abbreviated 17-0 victory over Mercer on Saturday evening at UAB's Green & Gold Classic.

The setback marked the third-straight loss for the Bears (8-5) who will close out action in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday afternoon when they close out the round-robin tournament against 25th-ranked Ole Miss. It was the eighth shutout of the season for the Lady Vols (13-0) who have yielded just five total runs in 13 outings.
