
Mercer Returns To Five Star To Host Army

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team returns to Macon from a long road trip to Virginia to host Army at Five Star Sunday in a Monday, Feb. 23 11 a.m. matinee.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 4th meeting between the two programs, with the first matchup in 2023 at Five Star Stadium. Army holds the overall record over Mercer 3-0 and defeated the Bears 17-4 in the 2025 season at a neutral site in Naples, Fla.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears held #6 Richmond to just five goals in the first half, scoring four to enter halftime within one goal of the Spiders. Richmond came out of halftime with a lot of momentum and took a 15-5 victory over Mercer at Robins Stadium in Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 16.Â
Mercer's offense was led by junior attackman Dillon Bush two posted two goals on the day. Senior midfielder Dylan McKelvy found the back of the net for the first time this season while Kade McNeil and Will Zylstra each added a goal for the Bears. Sophomore Christopher Cappelmann went 12-22 at the faceoff X and scooped up seven ground balls. Senior defenseman Quinn Kelley picked up four groundballs alongside Thomas Venzie who picked up three groundballs and caused two turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Neuman recorded a career-high 14 saves with nine in the first half against the Spiders.Â

The Black Knights are led by Joe Alberici who enters his 21st season at the helm for Army. The Black Knights finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 12-2 and a 7-1 record in the Patriot League with their sole loss coming against Boston University. Army fell to #5 Colgate 13-16 in the Patriot League tournament to end their season.
The Black Knights have a total of 50 goals on the season along with 32 assists. They have also accumulated over 100 ground balls across four games and 33 caused turnovers.
