MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will put the kibosh on a three-match home win streak on Wednesday when the Bears suit up to take on Georgia State at the Copelan Tennis Complex. First serves are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and admission is free.
Fans unable to make the trip to Middle Georgia can still follow all of the action for free via a live scoring link provided by the MU athletics department.
The Bears (2-5) will ride a two-match win streak into Wednesday's action on campus, including a convincing 7-0 triumph over visiting Young Harris last Wednesday in Macon. Hod'Abalo Isak Padio raked in his team-leading 12th singles victory of the 2025-26 season (second of the spring) in that win, but first teamed up with fellow senior Nemanja Stefanovic to tally a 6-0 shutout of the Mountain Lions in the featured doubles matchup.
Georgia State (3-4) stopped a four-match skid with a 4-3 win over visiting Alabama A&M on Saturday in Atlanta, using the early doubles point, as well as a three-set win by Gustav Anderrson at No. 6 singles, to hold off the Bulldogs. It was Andersson's team-leading fourth singles win of the traditional spring campaign for the Panthers. He has also teamed up with senior Sota Minami to compile a 5-1 clip at No. 3 doubles this spring as well.
The Panthers lead the 17-year-old series with Mercer, 8-0, but the two sides have met just twice in Macon over that span. Mercer was on the wrong end of a 4-3 decision in Macon during the 2015 campaign, and dropped a 7-0 match to GSU in 2021.
Georgia State defeated the Bears, 5-2, last season in Atlanta.
