
Mercer Treks Up North To Take On Drexel

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team will trek up north to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the Dragons of Drexel University on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Vidas Field.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 3rd meeting between the two programs, with the first matchup dating back to 2016 and the most recent matchup just last season in 2025. The Dragons hold the all-time record over the Bears 2-0. Mercer fell to Drexel last season at the Atlanta Lacrosse Invitational at Bobby Dodd Stadium 21-6 on Saturday, March 1.

The Bears faced #11 Army on Monday, Feb. 23 at Five Star Stadium where they fell to the Black Knights 16-7. Monday's game was Mercer's second-straight ranked opponent they faced.Â
Mercer's offense was led by sophomore attackman Will Zylstra who posted two goals on the morning. The rest of the goals were score by Dillon Bush, Ganon Cope, Ben Jose, Michael Frederick and Nick Church, while Frederick and Kade McNeil added an assist, respectively. Christopher Cappelmann had a standout day at the faceoff X going 18-25. On the defensive side of the ball, Brady Corkill posted a career-high four caused turnovers and added a ground ball. Senior defenseman Quinn Kelley picked up two ground balls and Davis Peek caused two turnovers.

The Dragons are led by Steve Boyle who enters his 1st season at the helm for Drexel. The Dragons finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 8-8 and a 4-3 record in the CAA. Drexel fell to #15 Towson in the second round of the CAA Championships 13-10 on Saturday, May 3.
The Dragons have a total of 44 goals on the season with 27 assists across four games, with Witt Crawford leading the way with nine goals. Drexel's defense has caused 20 turnovers and picked up over 100 ground balls.
