PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Drexel Dragons offense came to life against the Bears on Saturday morning, defeating Mercer 18-7 at Vidas Field in Philadelphia.

Mercer's offense was led by sophomore attackman Will Zylstra who posted two goals, an assist and three ground balls on the morning. Dylan McKelvy, Jack Sullivan, Nick Church, Kade McNeil all found the back of the net for Mercer alongside Tommy Bartenhagen's first career goal. Defenseman Thomas Venzie caused four turnovers and two ground balls. In between the pipes for Mercer, Jacob Neuman totaled 12 saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dragons opened up scoring within the first minute of play and was the only goal scored between either team until Drexel struck again at the 4:33 mark. Church scored the first goal for the Bears at the 2:57 mark, followed up by another Drexel goal. McKelvy closed out scoring in the first quarter putting the Bears within one heading into the second quarter.
Once again the Dragons found the back of the net first in the second quarter but Zylstra responded with his first goal of the day at the 9:11 mark. The Dragons posted three-straight goals and Zylstra scored once again for Mercer before the halftime buzzer.
Drexel pulled away in the third quarter scoring six-straight goals before the end of the quarter compared to Mercer's one scored by McNeil.
Sullivan struck first in the fourth quarter within a minute of play but the Dragons followed it up with three more goals and the damage had been done. Bartenhagen closed out scoring with a little more than a minute left in play.

TOP BEARS

Bartenhagen registered his first career goal.
Zylstra led the Bears with two goals on the day for the second game in a row.
Venzie caused a game-high of four turnovers.

Drexels improves to 4-1 on the season.
Mercer moves to 3-3 on the year.

The Bears will head up to Milwaukee, Wisc. to take on Marquette on March 7 at noon at Valley Fields.
