Mercer Set To Play Georgia State and North Georgia Over Weekend

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's tennis team is set two play two matches over the weekend, beginning on Saturday when the Bears head up to Atlanta to play Georgia State at 1 p.m.
Then, on Sunday Mercer will host North Georgia at the Copelan Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m.

Mercer and Georgia State will be playing for the eight time in the series history. Georgia State leads the series 4-3. Mercer won last year's matchup in Macon, 4-1.
The match against North Georgia will be the first all-time meeting between the two teams.
SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
Georgia State is looking for its first win of the season. The Panthers are 0-3 on the year with losses to Georgia Tech, Alabama and Chattanooga. The Panthers have yet to win a singles match this season, although the Panthers won the doubles point against Chattanooga.
Senior Maria Paredes returns for the Panthers after earning All-Sun Belt honors last year with a singles record of 6-5.
SCOUTING NORTH GEORGIA
North Georgia has played just one match this spring season, a 6-1 win over Newberry.
Last season, North Georgia went 21-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play. North Georgia won its second consecutive NCAA Division II Beach Belt Conference championship. The Nighthawks finished the season ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Divisioin II Southeast region.
