
Mercer Drops Match At Georgia State, 4-1

ATLANTA, Ga -Â The Mercer women's tennis team fell on the road to Georgia State, 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.
The three doubles matches were all closely contested. On court one, Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg defeated Zeynep Erbakan and Maria Paredes, 6-4. On court three,Â
Defne Erbakan and Lamiss Haouas defeated Marie Bannmeyer and Jelena Gojkovic, 7-5. The doubles point came down to a battle on court two where ultimately, Georgia State'sÂ
Sveva Bernardi and Sara Radojevic won 7-6 over Tea Zivic and Sofiya Tsitavets.
In singles play, Zeynep Erbakan of Georgia State defeated Tsistavets, 6-2, 6-1. On court six, Ines Hömberg earned Mercer's first point when she won, 6-3, 6-2 over Defne Erbakan of Georgia State.
Gerogia State's Lamiss Haouas won 6-3, 6-2 over Jelena Gojkovic to put Georgia State up, 3-1. Sara Radojevic clinched the match for the Panthers on court two with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Tea Zivic.
The other two singles matches went unfinished were on court one and four. On court one, Marina de Diego Quinones and Georgia State's Maria Paredes were just starting the third set. The match on court four between Marie Bannmeyer and Sveva Bernardi of Georgia State was called in the second set after Bannmeyer had won the first set 6-4.
Up next for the Bears is a home match on Sunday against North Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
