
Mercer Falls On The Road To Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mercer men's basketball team fell on the road to Samford, 69-49 Saturday night from the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mercer had a tough night offensively, shooting 16-for-59 (27.1%) from the field and making just 23.5 percent of its three-point attempts. Samford shot 24-for-50 (48.0%) from the field and made 6-of-19 (31.6%) three-pointers.
Baraka Okojie led Mercer with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Armani Mighty finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

1ST HALF
Okojie scored the first four points of the game for the Bears to give Mercer an early 4-2 lead. Then, the Bears struggled to make shots and Samford went on an 18-3 run to take a 20-7 lead.
A three-pointer from Brady Shoulders brought Mercer withing nine points with the score 25-16, Samford. Samford extended its lead to 16 points before a pair of free throws from Okojie made it a 34-20 game. Neither team could generate much offense over the final five minutes of the first half, as the Bulldogs outscored the Bears 6-2 over that stretch and Samford led 40-22 at halftime.
2ND HALF
Connor Serven found Mighty down low for a layup as Samford still led, 46-29. Okojie knocked down his second three of the game with 4:16 to play as Samford led 65-45. The Bulldogs would go on to win 69-49.
