Visiting Jacksonville State Too Much For Mercer

MACON – Senior Hod'Abalo Isak Padio picked up his first singles win of the traditional spring campaign with a straight-sets triumph over David Krasner on Court No. 2, but visiting Jacksonville State controlled the momentum for much of the rest of the day in a 6-1 win over the Bears.
Â
The result kept Mercer (0-4) winless through the first four matches of the spring portion of the 2025-26 campaign for the Orange & Black. It was the second win in less than 24 hours for the Gamecocks (2-0) who slipped past Lee, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at home.
Â
JSU's tandem of Lucius Soller and Krasner rallied back from an early 2-1 deficit in their No. 2 doubles draw with Alex Aldaz and Amen Prince Gandonou to clinch the doubles point and take up a point on the team scoreboard. Padio and doubles courtmate Nemanja Stefanovic had knotted up doubles competition just three minutes earlier when they finished off a 6-3 triumph over Aman Dahiya/Timo De Visser in the featured tilt.
Â
Jacksonville State finished off the team win with a trio of straight-sets wins in singles play before Padio toughed out a 13-11 second-set tiebreaker in his matchup with Charlie Penman in the featured singles match.
Â
Mercer will interrupt its otherwise 5-match home stand on Friday when it makes the long trip to Oxford, Miss., to take on unbeaten Ole Miss (9-0) at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Start time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET.
