MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will make a quick stop home on Tuesday afternoon when the Bears bunker down to take on Southern Conference foe Furman in a 2:30 p.m. matchup at the Copelan Tennis Complex. Admission is free.
Â
Fans unable to make the trip to Middle Georgia can still follow all of the action for free via a live scoring link provided by the MU athletics department.
Â
Fresh off of a season-longest five-match stretch away from Macon that was commenced with a loss at Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee on Sunday, the Bears (4-9, 0-1 SoCon) will ride a three-match home win streak into Tuesday's tilt with the Paladins (4-10, 1-0). It will mark MU's first home match since a 4-3 win over Georgia State nearly three weeks ago.
Â
The Orange & Black has been stout in doubles action as of late, capturing the doubles point in seven of its last eight outings thanks to a 7-1 mark by both the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles tandems across that span. The story has been similar, per say, in singles play over the last month as well. MU's Nos. 1 and 2 singles players have compiled an 11-3 clip over the last eight outings.
Â
Furman has dropped five of its last seven outings, and will roll into the Peach State riding consecutive 4-3 setbacks to James Madison Dayton. Sophomore Nico Snyder has led the way for the Paladins in singles action, rattling off a 5-6 mark on Court No. 1 through 14 spring matches, while also teaming up with fellow sophomore Nicolas Dispas to register a 5-4 mark at No. 1 doubles as well.
Â
FU's No. 3 tandem of Alex Han and Finn Pollard have won four out of its last five doubles contests, while the No. 2 pair of Evan Duggal and Landon Ecarma has captured three of its last four tilts.
Â
Furman is 12-3 all-time in its 12-year-old series history with the Bears, but Mercer snapped an eight-match skid in the series with a 4-1 win in Greenville, S.C., last season.
