Bears Sit In Sixth After Two Rounds Of Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – In a loaded field of some of the best teams in the country, the Mercer men's golf team finishes the second round of the 20th annual Linger Longer Invitational in sixth place of 17 teams.

"We showed solid effort as a team for most of the day," said head coach Jason Payne. "We struggled on the back nine which caused us to drop a few spots in the standings. On the bright side, we have 18 more holes to recover and give us a chance to contend for a top finish."

Albin Ekvall and Henry Robards led the scoring for the Bears with scores of even par in round two of the Linger Longer Invitational. The pair carded seven combined birdies in the front nine and each made the turn at three-under.

Josemaria Gutierrez heads into day three of the event tied for 24th individually as the third Bear with a score of even par or better. Gutierrez sits one under par after shooting a one-over 73 in Saturday's round.

Round three of the Linger Longer Invitational is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22. Nathan Trodd is slated to tee off first for the Bears at 9:33 a.m. You can follow along with live scoring here.
