MACON – Southern Conference-leading UNC Greensboro sent its entire order to the plate in a 5-run third inning that helped the Spartans finish off a weekend sweep of visiting Mercer on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Softball Stadium.

Sophomore Isabel Fernandez hit her second home run of the season for Mercer (17-26, 5-10 SoCon) who tacked up 10 hits on the afternoon, including four of the extra-base variety. The Spartans (34-15, 13-2) pushed their win streak out to six games with the decision while also maintaining their two-game lead atop the latest SoCon standings.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 3	Isabel Fernandez knotted up the game at one-run apiece when she clubbed the first offering she saw from Salem Ward deep and over the wall in left field.
BOT 3	UNC Greensboro tallied consecutive one-out hits from Macy Michael (double) and Kaylyn Belfield to set the table for a go-ahead 2-run single from Nya South. Avery Bouquin drew a 2-out walk a couple of batters later prior to a 2-run triple from Rylie Williams that pushed the lead out to 5-1. Salem Ward helped her own cause a couple of pitches later when she legged out an infield RBI single.
