MACON – Mercer utilized five errors by visiting East Tennessee State to plate five unearned runs and provide more than enough offense behind a Senior Day gem from right-hander Katherine Rearley as the Bears salvaged their weekend series with a 6-1 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday at Sikes Field.

The triumph snapped a two-game skid for the Orange & Black (20-29, 8-13 SoCon) who produced seven hits on the afternoon, including a solo homer from junior Meredith Wayland in the bottom of the sixth. The Bucs (21-28, 8-13) tallied five hits in the first two frames against Rearley, but mustered just four more over the last five innings.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 2	Rachel Sysum (walk) and Ashlyn UIlman (single) both climbed aboard with one out to get something going for the home team, but it was a trio of errors two pitches later that put MU up for good. Isabel Fernandez laced a single into left field and an errant throw home allowed Sysum to cross. Two successive throwing errors on the same play was enough for Ullman and Fernandez to come trotting home as well.
