Martin, Swift Voted Mercer Scholar-Athletes Of The Week

MACON – After a pair of incredible individual performances from Aubri Martin and Phillips Swift, the pair of Mercerians were voted the Mercer Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 7-13.
Martin, a junior libero from Green Cove Springs, Florida, led the volley team with 53 total digs (4.07 digs/set) at the UWG Volleyball Classic. Martin posted a career-high 25 digs in Saturday's match against Gardner-Webb before recording a double-double in digs and assists in the nightcap against West Georgia. Martin also ended the weekend with 19 assists and four service aces as the Bears went 2-1.
Swift, a sophomore from Macon, Georgia, was the leading scorer for the men's golf team at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and ended the event tied for seventh out of 86 individuals. Swift was tabbed the Southern Conference's Co-Golfer of the Week after shooting six under at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Martin and the volleyball team defend Hawkins Arena from Montana State, Georgia State and Charleston Southern in the Mercer Invitational. The three-day event begins on Thursday, September 17 and ends on Saturday, September 19.
Swift and the men's golf team is currently in Destin, Florida, competing in the Sandestin Collegiate Classic. The third round of the event is currently underway, and the Bears began the day leading the field of 14 teams with Swift tied for 12th individually.
