2011: Had a breakout campaign with the Bears last season after transferring from Middle Georgia College…Started 36 of the 40 games she appeared in for Mercer, splitting time at first base, designated hitter and inside the pitchers circle…Was fifth on the team in total hits(32) and fourth in batting average (.308) for players with at least 30 starts…Finished tied for third on the team with five doubles and sixth with 14 RBI…Her .374 on-base percentage was second on the team as well…Recorded her first Division I home run in walk-off fashion in the eighth inning in a 3-2 win over Stetson (4/3)…Tallied her second home run in 3-1 loss against USC Upstate (4/16)…Had a nine-game hitting streak which was the second longest on the team last season…Saw her batting average soar to .365 during the hitting streak…Also recorded eight multi-hit games, including two three-hit games (vs. Stetson 4/3 and vs. Ga. St. 4/19)…Had a season-high four RBI against Georgia St. (4/19).
Pitching: Started four games for the Bears in 2011 finishing the year with a 4-3 overall record…Finished the year third on the team in appearances (17) wins (4), starts(4), innings pitched (37.1) strikeouts (30) and ERA (2.62)…Garnered her first Division I win in a 18-0 shutout over Savannah St. (2/22)…Threw a season-high 5.2 innings in a 1-0 loss at Lipscomb (2/22)…In her first appearance of the season she tied a season-high by striking out four in 7-5 loss at Georgia Southern (2/12)…In her first start of her Division I career, she struck out two and allowed just one earned run in a 5-3 victory over Belmont (4/21)…Posted back-to-back wins in her appearances against Kennesaw St. (4/30) and Presbyterian (5/8), allowing just one earned run in the two games.
At Middle Georgia: Kassie Bailey led the Warrior attack with a .461 average that included 8 HRs, and a team leading 57 RBIs in 2010. She also led the team from the mound with a 14-6 overall record. She was a First Team All Conference Selection in 2009 and 2010. Middle Georgia won the 2010 GJCAA last season and Bailey was named to the Region XVII All Tournament Team.
High School: Graduated from Greenbrier High School in 2008 and was a four-year varsity letter-winner for head coach Garrett Black…Was a first-team All-State player in 2006 and 2007 and a first-team All-Region in 2005, ’06 and ’07…Was a member of the 2004 AAAA State Champion Greenbrier softball team.
Personal: Is the daughter of Kathy and Lawson Bailey from Evans, Ga…She was a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society and graduated in the top 25 percent of her class…Chose Mercer for the school’s small class size and the campus…Is majoring in mechanical engineering and has one sister and one brother.
