Mercer To Face Furman on Friday

MACON, Ga. – The Bears are on the road again this weekend as the women's soccer team will take on Furman on Friday evening in Greenville, South Carolina.

LAST TIME OUT
Mercer dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Chattanooga on Sunday. The Mocs took an early 1-0 lead in the third minute, but freshman Logan Culver tied the match, 1-1, in the 40th minute. Neither team scored in the second half, sending the match to overtime. Chattanooga once again attacked quickly and scored the golden goal in the 92nd minute to end the match and clinch the 2-1 win.

SERIES HISTORY
Furman holds a 3-1-1 advantage in the series, including a pair of wins last season. The Paladins defeated the Bears 1-0 in the regular season and in double overtime in the Southern Conference Tournament championship match.

SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman is currently tied for first place in the SoCon with a 3-1 league record. The Paladins have defeated Chattanooga, Samford and VMI, while falling to UNCG, 4-0, on Sunday.

Molly Dwyer leads Furman with 17 points off seven goals and three assists, while Carlie Couch is second on the team with six goals and 16 points. Dwyer is third in the SoCon in total points, points per game (1.42), total goals and goals per game (0.58). Kristian Leone has dished out a team-leading four assists, while Dwyer, Treva Aycock and Rachel Shah are tied for second on the team with three assists each.

Rose Hull and Kellsey Weaver have split time in goal thus far this season, with Hull logging 482 minutes and Weaver notching 545 minutes. Hull has made seven saves and allowed nine goals for a .438 save percentage and 1.68 goals-against average. Weaver has made 16 saves and allowed just one goal for a .941 save percentage and a 0.16 GAA.

As a team, Furman has a 0.818 GAA, ranking the Paladins first in the league and 67th nationally. Furman also leads the conference and ranks third nationally in scoring offense, while leading the league and ranking second nationally in total goals.

MERCER NOTES
Maddie Clark leads Mercer and is tied with Dwyer for third in the SoCon with seven goals so far this season. Clark is also third in the league in goals per game (0.58) and game-winning goals (2). The redshirt senior has tallied a total of 15 points to lead Mercer offensively.
