Cross Country Ready for Powerade Invitational

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer men's and women's cross country teams will compete with multiple southeastern programs at Chattanoog's annual Powerade Invitational on Friday at the Moccasin Bend Race Course.

The meet will open with the women's two-mile race at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's 5K. Joining Mercer are the men's and women's teams from Alabama, Covenant College, Middle Tennessee, Samford, Sewanee and host Samford and the Alabama A&M women's team.

Mercer kicked off its campaign at the Jacksonville State Strut's Season Opener last weekend where the men placed fifth out of six teams and the women finished sixth out of eight teams. Freshmen John Fravel and Marc Reiser led the men's team while senior Victoria Rogers' 17th-place finish paced the women.

Admission is free to attend the event. Results from both races will be available at MercerBears.com following the event's conclusion.
