
Mercer Returns to Kiawah for Palmetto Intercollegiate

The Bears’ penultimate fall tournament starts Sunday
KIAWAH, S.C. – The Mercer women's golf team resumes its 2017 fall slate at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-24 at the Turtle Point course of the Kiawah Island Resort. Mercer will play in the fall tournament, which is hosted by College of Charleston, for the second consecutive year.

The Bears placed ninth last year at the Palmetto Intercollegiate while Hannah Mae Deems tied for eighth place individually (+4, 220). Terese Romeo (+10, T-31) is the only other Bear in this week's lineup that played in last year's tournament. Freshman Jodee Tindal will make her collegiate debut.

The Bears join 17 other teams in the tournament field: Boston University, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, College of Charleston (host), Daytona State, ETSU, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Mississippi, North Florida, Old Dominion, Troy, Tulsa, UNCG and Xavier.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
The Palmetto Intercollegiate, which began in 1999, will be played for the fourth time in the history of the tournament at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course. Campbell is the defending tournament champion shooting a three-round score of 879 (+15) to take home last year's team trophy. Coastal Carolina finished two strokes back of the Camels (+17) while host College of Charleston was third (+19).
