Men’s Soccer to Host Spartans in SoCon Clash

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Men's Soccer will host UNCG tomorrow at 7 p.m. when the Spartans travel to Bear Field for a Southern Conference showdown.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer trails UNCG in the all-time series, 4-6. The two squads each claimed a 2-1 victory on their own respective home fields a season ago. Since joining the SoCon in 2014, the Bears hold a 4-3 advantage over the Spartans.

SPARRING WITH THE SPARTANS
The Spartans enter the contest fresh off a 2-1 loss at home to Wofford on Tuesday. Following the loss, UNCG falls to 4-5-2 on the season. The Spartans are led by junior goalkeeper and 2017 September SoCon Player of the Month, Jon Milligan. Milligan and the UNCG defense have allowed a SoCon-best nine goals, notching six shutouts in the process. The Spartans have only scored nine goals all season but the defense carries the squad, ranking first in the conference in goals against (9), goals against average (0.78) and shutouts (6). On the offensive side, Leeroy Maguraushe and Matt Mattis lead the team with two goals apiece.
