Mercer Continues Home Stand Against Gardner-Webb

MACON, Ga. – Mercer is in the midst of a five-game home stand as the women's lacrosse team is set to host Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Five Star Stadium.

OUTSTANDING OFFENSE
The Bears are averaging 16.5 goals per game, leading the ASUN and ranking eighth nationally in scoring offense. Mercer is also first in the conference and second nationally with 10.0 assists per game. Mercer currently owns the ASUN single-game highs in points (37), assists (14) and draw controls (23) this year.

SEGRETI AND LEONE LEADING THE BEARS
Meghan Segreti and Kate Leone are both leading Mercer and the ASUN with eight total goals and 4.00 goals per game this season. The duo also ranks 13th nationally in goals per game.

SHARING IS CARING
Mercer is averaging 10.00 assists per game, leading the ASUN and ranking second nationally. Lindsey Zeltwanger dished out a season-high four assists against Fresno State last week, moving her into first place in the ASUN with six total assists this season. Eva Thorn is third in the league with five assists, all of which she contributed in the season-opener against Presbyterian. Zeltwanger also leads the league and ranks eighth nationally with 3.00 assists per game, while Thorn is second in the ASUN and 19th nationally with 2.50 apg.

LEADING IN THE DRAW CIRCLE
Through two games, Mercer is averaging 15.50 draw controls per game, ranking the Bears first in the ASUN an 11th nationally. Meghan Segreti leads Mercer and the ASUN with 7.50 draws a game, also ranking her seventh nationally.

GROUND BALLS APLENTY
The Bears are currently second in the ASUN and eighth nationally with 24.50 ground balls per game. Haleigh Wurzel leads Mercer and the ASUN, while ranking fifth nationally with 5.50 ground balls per game.

STRONG START
Mercer started its third season off with a bang, cruising past Presbyterian 23-13 on Feb. 11. This is the second season in which Mercer has won the first game of the year, as the Bears also opened the 2015 campaign with a win.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer has a 2-0 lead in the series with Gardner-Webb, including an 8-7 overtime win last season on the road.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
Gardner-Webb has played just one game thus far, falling 21-5 to Virginia Tech.

Amanda Steinmuller and Cassidy McDowell led the Runnin' Bulldogs with two goals each in the loss to Virginia Tech. Steinmuller also dished out an assist and leads Gardner-Webb with three points this season.

Emma Rose leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with three draw controls and two ground balls thus far. Gardner-Webb only grabbed four ground balls against Virginia Tech, while the Hokies picked up 11.

Melan White spent a majority of the season opener in goal for Gardner-Webb, making 10 saves and allowing 21 goals. White has a .323 save percentage and a 23.99 goals-against average.
