MACON, Ga. – Mercer fell prey to the long ball Saturday against Eastern Michigan as the Eagles used three solo home runs in three consecutive innings to clip the host Bears, 3-2, in the Mercer Bears Classic Saturday at Sikes Field.

The Bears (14-18) left the potential tying run on third in the fourth inning and were unable to push a run across the plate in the final three innings.

Eastern Michigan (9-11) hit all three solo home runs in consecutive innings between the third and the fifth and prevailed despite committing three errors in the game, one of which was a catcher's interference that eventually led to a run for Mercer.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Megan Lane finished the game 1-for-3 with a run batted in for the contest. Her single came in the fourth inning and she advanced all the way to third but was unable to score.

STAT OF THE GAME
Caroline Taylor reached base in the fourth inning off a catcher's interference call on EMU catcher Taylor Wagner. That marks the third tie a Bear batter has reached base due to a catcher's interference this season. Conversely, no Bear catcher has been called for catcher's interference to date this season.
