The Bears return to Betts Stadium for its SoCon home opener

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team returns to Betts Stadium Saturday when they host Belmont in its SoCon home opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Betts Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer leads the all-time series, 9-6-1, over Belmont. The last matchup between these two teams was last Oct. 16 when the Bears came away with a 3-1 win in Nashville. The 2018 season, was the first year Belmont was in the SoCon.

NOTABLES

Trevor Martineau ranks first in the SoCon in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, and tied for most game-winning goals. He has 24 points in 12 games. He has a SoCon high eight goals and eight assists this season.
Trevor Martineau is eighth in the NCAA with 24 points this season. He is only nine points behind Thibaut Jacquel of Campbell for the most points in the NCAA.
The eight assists for Martineau is fourth in the nation. He is one goal behind the leaders, Dayonn Harris of UConn, Jamil Roberts of Marshall, and Julio Rubio of CSUN.
The Bears have the second-best goals-against average in the SoCon. Mercer is only allowing 1.29 goals per game this season. In 12 games, the Bears have only allowed 16 goals.
JR DeRose is tied for first in the SoCon in shutouts this season with three, and second in the conference with a goal-against average of 1.29.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
The Bruins enter Saturday's contest with a 2-8-2 and a mark of 0-1-1 in SoCon action. Belmont is coming off a 2-1 loss to UNCG on Tuesday night. This season, the Bruins have scored 15 goals, led by Niccolo Dagnoni with six goals. Dagnoni also leads the team with 15 points. Jordan Dozzi leads the team with four assists on the season. The Bruins are averaging 9.7 shots per game. In goal for Belmont, Nicolo Dini leads the way with 944 minutes played. He has a goals-against-average of 1.81 on the season and has one shutout. As a team, the Bruins are allowing 1.92 goals per game and have allowed 24 goals in 12 games this season.
