Bears host in-state foe Georgia Southern Wednesday
MACON, Ga. – Mercer will host Georgia Southern in a mid-week matchup at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Sikes Field.

The Bears enter the contest at 2-3 overall while Georgia Southern boasts a 4-2 record. Wednesday's game will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network.

The Bears hosted their annual Mercer Invitational last weekend, going 2-3 overall with victories against Rutgers and Army. Mercer split with Rutgers and Army and fell in its lone game against Jacksonville State. Four Bears tallied a team-best five hits, including Josselet, Lane, Micayla Rood and Danielle Castleberry.

The Eagles kicked off their 2019 campaign by hosting their annual Bash in the Boro tournament, going 4-2 in the process with wins against UT Martin (twice), Savannah State and Saint Francis. Georgia Southern fell once to Saint Francis and Winthrop.

Mekhia Freeman leads the Eagles with a .529 batting average (nine hits, two RBI). Rylee Waldrop went 2-1 in the circle with a 4.57 ERA. Georgia Southern went 28-25 overall and 12-15 in the Sun Belt Conference last season.
