
Stuart Tops No. 19 Nationally Ranked Player at Georgia Tuesday

ATHENS, Ga. – Olivier Stuart topped the No. 19 ranked player in the nation in Mercer's competition at Georgia Tuesday afternoon. The Bears put up a hard-fought battle but fell short, dropping a 6-1 decision.
The Bulldogs claimed an early lead, winning the doubles competition. Court No. 2 saw UGA's Trent Byde and Philip Henning defeat Stathis Tsiranidis and David Georgadze, 6-2. Mercer No. 3 pairing of Piyush Salekar and Carver Arant came up short in a 6-4 loss to Robert Loeb and Alex Diaz. The Bears' No. 1 duo of Olivier Stuart and Nico Guillon were winning 5-3 when play was called short due to the Bulldogs clinching.
Singles play began with Georgia adding another point as No. 6 Diaz topping Arant, 6-1, 6-3. On court No. 4, Henning bested Tsiranidis, 6-3, 6-2. The Bears' No. 3 seeded Fernando Guardia dropped a 6-2, 6-4, decision to Loeb. Mercer continued to fight as No. 2 Guillon claimed an early lead but fell to Trent Bryde, in a super tiebreak, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. No 5 Georgadze pushed Blake Croyder but was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 6-4, 7-6 (7). The afternoon wrapped up with Mercer's No. 1 seeded Stuart earning a 7-6 (6), 7-6 (7), triumph over the 19th ranked player in the nation, Emil Reinberg.

The men's team will continue its road swing traveling to DeLand, Fla. to compete with Stetson on Saturday, March 2.
