Bears Top the Hatters For First Time Since 2011
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team defeated Stetson for the first time since 2011, topping the Hatters, 5-2, Saturday afternoon.
Mercer jumped to an early lead, claiming the doubles competition. The Bears' No. 2 pairing of Stathis Tsiranidis and David Georgadze bested Colter DeCoste and Antoine Sanchez, 6-4. Mercer's No. 3 duo of Carver Arant and Piyush Salekar downed Coilin MacNamara and Dennis Moses, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point.
Stetson evened the match at 1-1, as its No. 5 slotted Christian Mills beat Georgadze, 6-1, 6-4. The Hatters then went on to claim a lead with No. 3 Tim Gennes defeating Fernando Guardia, 6-2, 6-2. Mercer's No. 6 Arant earned a, 6-3, 6-3, triumph over Moses to tie the match once again. Mercer would go on to win on the remaining courts to seize the 5-2 victory. No. 4 Tsiranidis downed MacNamara, 6-4, 7-5. On court No. 1, Olivier Stuart battled back to earn a, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2, victory over Louis Gorregues to clinch the match. The afternoon concluded with No. 2 Nico Guillon defeating Sanchez, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (10-3).

The Mercer men's tennis team will continue its road swing, traveling to Jacksonville, Ala. to face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Thursday, March 7.
