Mercer Wins Second Straight With 4-1 Victory Over Alabama State

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team completed a perfect home stand, winning their second straight with a 4-1 victory over Alabama State, Sunday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
The Bears gained the early edge, claiming the doubles competition. On court No. 2, Piyush Salekar and Stathis Tsiranidis topped Tomas Fernandez and Carl-Louis Luckmann, 6-2. The Hornets evened the odds as No. 3 Juan Rodriguez and Chris Andre downed Carver Arant and Fernando Guardia, 6-4. Mercer clinched the doubles point with the No. 1 pairing of Olivier Stuart and Nicolas Guillon besting Ion Efrim and Alexs Collard, 7-6.
Mercer continued to stretch the lead as No. 2 Guillon defeated Fernandez, 6-1, 6-0. On court No. 4 Tsiranidis beat Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-4. The Hornets put a point on the board with No. 3 Collard defeating Guardia, 6-2, 7-6. The Bears clinched the match as No. 1 Stuart topped Efrim, 6-4, 6-2.

The Mercer men's tennis team will be back in action traveling to Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 8, for a match at North Florida. Play is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
