Pattison limits Bucs to five hits in complete-game performance
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Mercer completed a Southern Conference series sweep of ETSU with a 5-2 win on Sunday at Betty Basler Field on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Megan Lane drove in four runs in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate that included a solo home run and two-run double. Mercer improved to 19-21 overall and 5-1 in league play with its sixth straight victory dating back to March 30.
Â
Freshman right-hander Bailey Pattison tossed Mercer's third complete game of the weekend, scattering a couple runs on five hits while striking out one batter. Pattison did not issue any walks and earned her ninth win of the season in the process.
Â
A fielding error by the Bears led to ETSU's first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Mercer tied it up in the next half inning on Lane's solo home run. The Bears took the lead and never looked back in the third as Abby Walsh plated Kenlie Harvey with a sacrifice fly and Lane singled up the middle to score Danielle Castleberry.
Â
Another RBI single by ETSU's Taylor Wright cut Mercer's lead in half, 3-2, in the sixth, but Lane came up big yet again with a two-run double in the top of the seventh to seal win for Mercer. Pattison retired the Bucs in order in the bottom of the seventh to finish it off.
