Mercer Readies for Match with Alcorn State Tomorrow Afternoon

First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
MACON, Ga. – After winning the opening match of the Southern Conference slate, the Mercer men's tennis team will take a break from conference play to host Alcorn State on Wednesday.
The match between the Bears and Braves is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
Mercer improved to 4-10 overall with a thrilling 4-3 win over the UTC Mocs on Sunday. With the match tied at three, Stathis Tsiranidis pulled out a victory at No. 3 singles. In the deciding third set, Tsiranidis and Chattanooga's Kerim Hyatt were knotted at one, but Tsiranidis took control to claim a 6-4 win in the set and clinch the match for the Bears.

Scouting the Braves
Alcorn State struggled has struggled outside of league play, amassing just a 1-13 record. Inside the SWAC is a different story as the Braves matched their non-conference win total and stand 1-1. Alcorn State's Lucas Dini is 6-5 overall and has split time between the No. 3 and 4 flights. Gjorgji Popovski has a .500 (6-6) record, including a 6-5 mark in the top flight.
Three of the Braves' doubles teams have won a pair of matches. Dini and Santiago Rocca have the best winning percentage (.400) of all of Alcorn's doubles pairings.

After Wednesday's match, the Bears will travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to battle Southern Conference foe ETSU on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
