Mercer To Face In-State Foe Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. –  The Mercer Bears will face their third in state foe of the 2021-2022 season, Kennesaw State University tomorrow in Kennesaw, Ga with tip-off slated at 7 p.m.

Mercer would go on to shoot 58% as a team in the first half. Shannon Grant added to that number in a major way by going 9-for-10 on the day, which is a career high for the sophomore. The Bears want to continue their 2-0 winning streak against Coach Abdur-Rahim and their 9-0 streak against the Owls tomorrow. Mercer has won by an average of 15 points in those last nine wins and will look to continue to share the ball even more this time out as the Bears have assisted on 43 of 84 field goals (51.2 percent) during its past three games.
 SERIES HISTORY The Bears and Owls are set at 18-6 in their series with Mercer on top. In their most recent meeting, the Bears won on 12/22/20 at the KSU Convocation Center, 81-71.Â
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Kennesaw State suffered its third road loss of the season last Tuesday, against another Power Conference opponent, as the Owls dropped a 92-61 contest at Wake Forest. KSU would drop to 2-4. They then went on to pick up an 89-52 win this past Sunday against Charleston Southern at home moving the Owls to their current standings. Mercer has lost its last three road games, scoring 68 points, while allowing 79 per game. However, the Bears like their chances tomorrow as the Orange and Black have recorded 1.5 more steals and .6 more rebounds per game, while allowing .7 less points to opponents per game than Kennesaw State.Â
