Bears Earn Clean Sweep of Bobcats on Saturday

Mercer topped Georgia College, 7-0
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears picked up a 7-0 victory over the Georgia College Bobcats on Saturday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga.
To start doubles action. Hugo Lobo and Lucas Wayenburg defeated GCSU's Matt Rogel and Enzo Sergi, 6-3.The Bears claimed the doubles point when Andrew Branicki and Samuel Macleod narrowly defeated Jack Sorel and Lukas Zarvel, 7-5, at No. 2 doubles. Despite not needing a result at No. 3, the Bears' Michael Durham and Samuel Barrow still played their match to completion and won, 6-4.
The momentum stayed on Mercer's side in singles play with Wayenburg making quick work of Jesus  Villamizar Abia in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Carver Arant also shutout his opponent at No. 3 doubles to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. Mercer clinched the match at No. 1 when Lobo topped Rogel in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
With the victory in hand, the Bears continued their stellar play, picked up victories at No. 4, 5 and 6 to finish the day. Macleod won at No. 4, 6-3, 6-3, before Durham defeated Cole Heller at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1. David Georgadze's match at No. 5 was the last to finish. He earned 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jorge Robinson.
