Men’s Tennis Faces Stetson and Georgia Southern This Weekend

The Bears travel to Stetson; host Georgia Southern
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears men's tennis team has a busy weekend in front of them. The Bears travel to Deland, Fla., for a match against Stetson on Friday, before returning home to host Georgia southern on Sunday.

Scouting the Hatters
Stetson enters the match against the Bears with only one match played in 2021. The Hatters lost its lone match, 6-1, to Troy on Feb. 7. This will be the second home match of the season for the Hatters.
The lone win for the Hatters came in No. 1 singles. Antoine Sanchez won his lone match this season. Stetson is 1-5 in singles play.
In doubles, the Hatters went 0-3 when they faced Troy. Antonie Sanches and Linus Bergevi played No. 1 doubles.
Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles enter this weekend with a 4-2 mark. Georgia Southern will play three matches this weekend with two against ABAC on Saturday at the Wallis Tennis Center. On Sunday, the Eagles make the trip to Macon. Georgia Southern has won its last four matches.
In singles actions, the Eagles are led by Pascal Wagemaker who plays No. 1. He is 2-3 on the season. A trio of Eagles have four wins under their belt this year. Murphy McCullough, who is 4-2, playing No. 2 singles. Valetin Dun has four wins, three in No. 3 and one in No. 4 singles. Alexandros Roumpis is 4-1 playing No. 5 singles.
In doubles, Roumpis and Wagemaker team up to play No. 1 doubles. The duo is 3-2 in No. 1 doubles and 1-0 playing No. 2. Tao Castillo and Murphy McCullough are 4-2 playing No. 2 doubles. The Eagles are 12-5 in doubles play.

The Bears return to action Wednesday when they host Jacksonville State in non-conference action at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
