Softball Returns to Sikes For Mercer Bears Classic

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team returns to Sikes Field this weekend as the Bears host the Mercer Bears Classic from Friday through Sunday.

MERCER QUICK HITS

The Bears are 32nd in the nation in stolen bases averaging 1.8 steals per game.
Sophomore Kylie Helm leads the team in batting average, hitting .353 (6-for-17) on the season.
Freshman Madi Joice boasts a team-best 3-0 record with a 2.84 ERA.
Outfielder Elisa Rosado has crossed home plate 11 times this season, a team high.
Sophomore infielder Diamond Williams has driven in a team-high of seven RBI this season.

SCOUTING WINTHROP
Winthrop is 10-8 on the season having picked up a win in its previous game against the College of Charleston. The eagles are 107th in the nation in scoring, averaging 4.56 runs per game. Senior Ansley Gilreath leads the team in batting average (.528) and runs batted in (28) while her 11 home runs are the second-most in the country. Sophomore Macy McCall leads Winthrop in runs having crossed home plate 19 times this season. The eagles rank 45th nationally in home runs, hitting an average of one long ball per game.

SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks have a 3-8 record this season and have won two of their last three games. They are currently ranked 30th nationally in doubles, producing 1.73 doubles a game. Sophomore Madi Moore has the highest batting average on the team at .333 (8-for-24) on the season. Junior Pitcher Jannay Jones has an earned run average of 2.10 this season. The Fighting Hawks' strikeout-to-walk ratio sits at 1.3.

SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN
Presbyterian is near-perfect this season with five wins and only one loss with their sole defeat being in a double header against South Carolina St. on March 9. The Blue Hose rank 20th in the nation in doubles per game (1.83), 21st in the nation in earned run average (1.51) and 31st in the nation in batting average (.420). The team is led by Macy Hyatt in batting average with the senior infielder hitting an impressive 1.00 on the season. Freshman infielder Jillian Hewes leads the team in runs and runs batted in having crossed home plate five times this season and batting in eight runs for her team.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss is 12-8 on the season, leading the nation in walks with 84 free passes. The Golden Eagles share the same rank as the Bears in stolen bases per game coming in at 32nd nationally stealing an average of 1.8 bases a game. Senior Heather Hill has the highest batting average on the team at .375. Outfielder Destini Brown leads the team in runs (17) and stolen bases (13).
