Men’s Tennis Wins Twice over Covenant

Bears took two from Covenant on Tuesday.
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team won their third straight match on Wednesday as they defeated Covenant twice on the day. The Bears won each match by a score of 7-0. The wins for the Bears were their fifth and sixth of the season.
IN the first match, the Bears came out strong as Lucas Wayenburg and Hugo Lobo won 6-3 in No. 1 doubles. Michael Durham and Samuel Barrow clinched the doubles point for Mercer with a 6-1 victory. No. 2 doubles also went to the Bears 6-2.
Leading 1-0, Mercer went on to win every singles match. Samuel Barrow won in straight sets in No. 5 singles to get the winning going for the Bears. David Georgadze followed with a straight-set victory.
Winning continued as the next match that was complete was Danny Flynn winning in straight sets in No. 6 singles. Carver Arant, 6-1, 6-2, Hugo Lobo, 6-0, 6-1, and Michael Durham 6-2, 6-2, came away with wins for Mercer.

Like the first match, Mercer wasted little time jumping out to an early lead. Durham and Barrow won 6-0 in No. 3 doubles. Wayenburg and Lobo clinched the doubles point for Mercer with a 6-1 victory. Arant and Georgadze came away with a victory of their own.
In singles, Flynn put Mercer ahead, 2-0 after winning 6-0, 6-0 over Paxton Haggerty. Lobo followed with his second win of the day winning 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Durham also went 2-0 on the day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Barrow earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 4 singles for his second win of the day. Georgadze came away with a 6-2, 6-0 win playing No. 1 singles in the second match. Rounding out the Bears earning a win was Samuel Macleod in No. 5 singles who won 6-1, 6-0.
