Michael Durham was a perfect 3-0 on the day

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team extended its winning streak to five straight matches after defeating ABAC in a pair of matches, 5-2 and 4-0, on Saturday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

Mercer 11 of a possible 14 matches against the Stallions who are a top-5 team amongst the JUCO ranks. ABAC jumped out to a 2-0 lead after taking the doubles point and the first singles flight. David Georgadze put Mercer on the board with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ignacio Orgaz at No. 4 singles to cut the deficit in half before Samuel Barrow tied the match by toppong Vinicius Outor, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 6 position.

Michael Durham outlasted Lorenzo Del Biondo in the first set, 7-6, before taking set two, 6-1, to claim No. 5 singles and put Mercer in the lead, 3-2. Carver Arant also went to the tiebreak in the first set in the third singles flight against Baptiste Mercier, 7-6, before a 6-3 decision in set two to win in straight sets and clinch the first match for the Bears.

Hugo Lobo kept the momentum with the home squad as he picked up a thrilling 7-6, 7-6 victory at No. 2 singles.

Mercer opened the second match by taking the doubles point as the team of Hugo Lobo and Lucas Wayenburg started things off with a 6-1 win in the top flight over Baptiste Mercier and Gaston Gantero. Danny Flynn and Samuel Macleod clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Luke Stuart and Tiago Marques at the No. 3 doubles position.

Barrow extended Mercer's lead to 2-0 when Marques had to withdraw from the match at No. 5 singles with Barrow leading the first set, 4-1. Flynn followed that up with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Saranpahon Siriwanichkul in the sixth flight to give Mercer a three-point advantage before Michael Durham sealed the shutout victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Stuart at No. 4 singles.
