Men’s Tennis Travels to Furman for SoCon Action

MACON, Ga – The Mercer men's tennis team travels to Greenville, S.C., to face Furman in a key Southern Conference matchup on Friday afternoon from the Mickel Tennis Center. The Bears are looking to extend their five match winning streak.

Furman and Mercer are battle for a top four spot in the Southern Conference to qualify for the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship this season.

Scouting the Paladins
Furman enters the match with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Paladins ended a three match losing streak in their last match. On Sunday, Furman defeated Chattanooga, 6-1, earning its third SoCon victory.

On the season, Furman is 44-50 in singles play. Ivan Mitric leads the team with 10 wins, all coming from the No. 1 position. He has won his last three matches. Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi follow with eight wins each, coming in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectfully.

In doubles play, the Paladins are 17-25. They have used 10 different teams this season. Atlevi and Bhangdia lead the team with four wins coming in the No. 1 doubles position. Drew Singerman and Emil Westling alos have four wins, coming in No. 3 doubles.
