Mercer concludes its 12-game road trip on Wednesday in Atlanta
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team concludes its 12-game road trip with a midweek doubleheader at Georgia State on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

The Bears are 18-54 in the all-time series against Georgia State dating back to the inaugural 1986 season. Mercer is 8-21 in games played in Atlanta and is seeking its first road victory against the Panthers since 2014. The Bears have won each of the last two meetings against Georgia State with an 8-0 victory in five innings last season and a 6-0 win in 2019.

Georgia State enters Wednesday's games with a 12-18 record on the season with all 12 wins coming against non-conference opponents. The Panthers are winless in their last 10 games dating back to March 19, all of which came in Sun Belt play. GSU is led by Daisy Hess and Bailee Richardson who are hitting .362 and .360, respectively. Hess leads the team in virtually every offensive category as she is 34-for-94 with nine doubles, a triple and eight home runs along with 33 RBI and 27 runs scored. Richardson is 32-for-89 with five doubles and five home runs while driving in 25 RBI and scoring 19 runs.

In the circle, Emily Buck boasts a team-best 3.88 ERA and is 3-3 on the season. Of her nine starts, she has thrown three complete games, including two shutouts. Sophie Mooney has tossed a team-high 50.0 innings on the year and leads the squad with 32 strikeouts.
