Mercer Welcomes Chattanooga for SoCon Series

The Bears will host their first SoCon series since hosting UNCG on April 27-28, 2019
Macon, Ga. – The Mercer softball team returns home after a 10-game road trip to resume Southern Conference play this weekend as the Bears host Chattanooga in a three-game series at Sikes Field. Mercer will play two games against the Mocs on Saturday with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The series finale is schedule for Sunday at 1 p.m.

The bears are 20-28 in the all-time series against the Mocs. The last matchup between the two clubs was a three-game series in April of 2019 at Sikes Field. The Bears won the series finale, 2-1, behind a complete game, three-hit effort in the circle by Bailey Pattison. Tori Ash opened the scoring in the game with an RBI single in the second inning, while Megan Lane hit a sac fly in the sixth to score Kenlie Harvey for the game-winning run.

Scouting the Mocs
The Mocs are 8-16 this season following a sweep of ETSU in a three-game series last weekend. They rank 25th nationally in double plays per game, averaging 0.46 per game. Shortstop Emily Coltharp leads the team with 13 runs and 5 bases stolen this season. Senior Hayleigh Weissenbach has provided the pop in Chattanooga's lineup with two home runs and 13 RBI, both of which are team highs.
